Mr. Roger “Dale” Radford, age 77 of Mount Airy, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Radford was born in Patrick County to the late Hardin Otis and Lorean Ola Epperson Radford. Dale proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, obtaining the rank of Staff Sargent as a B-52 Aircraft Mechanic. After his service, Mr. Radford returned home and operated a dairy farm for many years, then transitioned to raising beef cattle. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Mr. Radford will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Wanda Hall Radford; son and daughter-in-law Bradley Radford and Julie; grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher Radford and Chrisie, Jamie Radford and Makayla; great-grandchildren, Ellie King, Jayden Radford, Kenzie Radford; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Radford was preceded in death by four brothers, Alvin Radford, Arnold Radford, Arliss Radford, and Wendell Radford. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Reverend Rick Mann and Reverend Mike Shoaf officiating. Interment will follow in the Church of Christ Cemetery in Dry Pond, Virginia. Full military rites will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Post 2019 Mount Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 325, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
