Mr. Roger Shore, Sr., age 95, of King, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025. He was born on April 13, 1930, in Surry County to the late Sid and Ida Johnson Shore. Mr. Shore was a family man, loved to travel, anything related to bluegrass music, loved to follow wherever his family was to take part of anything with them. He was a man of many traits, whether he was tending to his cherished garden, just being outdoors, or cooking pigs for the community. He faithfully served in the United States Army, was a proud veteran, and was a faithful member of Capella Church of Christ. Never was there a dull moment with Mr. Shore, he was the mold and center for family and friends. So many things could be said of Mr. Shore but knowing he’s in a better place sums it all up. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Revonda Burton (Gene), Shelia Kiger (Michael); son, Roger Shore Jr. (Stephanie); grandchildren, Khriste Petree (Jason), Andrew Kiger (Christina), Nathan Kiger (Megan), Thomas Kiger (Sydney), Janna Joyce (Joshua), Zachary Shore, Molly Nienhuis (Jim), Isaac Shore (Kenzie); great-grandchildren, Noah, Revonda, SidneyBess, Israel, Levi, Judah, James, Naomi, Zivah, Marek, Nora and Indi; sister, Katherine Whitaker; brother, Pete Shore. In addition to his parents Mr. Shore was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Bowman Shore; great-grandson, Rankin Nienhuis; brother, Henry Shore, sisters, Ruth Header, Nancy Twitty. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with service conducted by Pastor Thomas Kiger. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. A private burial will follow.
