“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7. Mr. Roger Wayne Dollyhite, age 56, finished his race with pain and cancer on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. He was born in Surry County to Roger Grig Dollyhite and Annie Lee Russell Overton on January 1, 1969. As a young man, Wayne worked at Eco-Knit in Mount Airy alongside his parents and other relatives. Before becoming ill approximately one year ago, he and his wife Jackie enjoyed gardening and maintaining a beautiful plant paradise on their porch. He was also a lover of animals, especially goats and chickens. Wayne loved his family with his whole heart and was a helpful caregiver to his mother-in-law. He was a wonderful husband, son, uncle, brother, and friend to many. He will be remembered for his gentle nature and willingness to help others. He loved Christ and started each day listening to Cece Weinans song, “Goodness of God.” Undoubtedly, heaven’s gates were wide open for him on Sunday, and he is now walking hand in hand with Jesus. Wayne spent the last seven months in the hospital suffering from cancer and other various ailments that kept him on a ventilator for three months. He miraculously was able to resume breathing on his own and was eventually able to return home and see his plants and animals before entering the Woltz Center. Wayne and his devoted wife, Jackie Quesinberry Dollyhite, of 29 years made their home in Sheltontown, NC. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Cathy Quesinberry, of the home; one sister, Carol King (John); one brother-in-law, Donnie Quesinberry (Princess); one sister-in-law, Pansy Heck (Art). Wayne was also blessed with three nephews: Shawn Senter (Jennifer) of Dobson, NC; Jonathon Weatherman (Barbara) of Martinsville, VA; and Joseph Weatherman of the home; and several great nieces and nephews. He lovingly served as Pappa to Chloe and Ella Quesinberry, two great nieces, who frequently visited him at his home. The family extends a special thanks to Angel Bowers and Princess Pack, who not only served as family friends, but also as caregivers who were by his side throughout his extended hospital stay and his stay at the hospice center, their never-ending dedication to Wayne and Jackie will never be forgotten. A graveside service will be held at the Dollyhite Family Cemetery on Blue Hollow Road at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 20, 2025, with Rev. Dr. Michael Marcela and Rev. Philip Adams presiding. Family members will greet friends at a viewing at the cemetery prior to the services from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
