Ronald Adams Inman went home to be with Jesus on March 25, 2026, surrounded by family. Ronnie will be missed by so many people in so many ways. If he was not briefly sitting still to watch a NASCAR race, play cards or dominoes, or talk to his family, he was bound to be out helping somebody do something, whether that was farming, working on cars, or helping with fundraisers. His love for the community of Shoals was felt throughout it; he devoted innumerable hours to Pinnacle View Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, to Shoals Ruritan Club, and to the Shoals Recreation Center. At every community meal, meeting, revival, or event, you could find him being extremely helpful while also cutting up the entire time, his laughter booming out from wherever he stood. He was generous with everything, and especially generous with his love. If you were loved by Ronnie, you knew without a doubt, because he would tell you as well as show you, whether that was through meals paid for against your will, help with anything you could possibly need, or just time spent with you. Ronnie was born on April 29th, 1946 to Grover Lancaster Inman and Hazel Pauline Adams Inman. After the death of his mother, Ronnie was loved and cared for by both the Manuel and McCreary families. He graduated from Nancy Reynolds High School, after which he started work at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was drafted into the United States Army, where he served from 1966-1968. When he returned from his military service, he met Janie Bullington, and they were married on April 4, 1969. He restarted work at Reynolds, received an associate’s degree from Forsyth Tech in 1977, and retired from Reynolds in 2000. Ronnie’s favorite Bible verse was Philippians 2:3, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” Many people have a favorite Bible verse; very few people have a favorite Bible verse that they act out so purposefully as Ronnie acted out Christ’s love and humility toward those around him. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Janie Inman, son Jason Inman and his wife Amy, daughter Ashley Chilton and her husband David, granddaughter Emily Chilton Moore and her husband Evan, and grandson Ben Chilton and his girlfriend Chloe Vann. He is also survived by his sister Joan Peters (Frank), sister Alice Owens, and brother Jerry Inman, as well as the Manuel family and McCreary family. He also leaves his legacy with cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended family and so many friends, whom he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Fayne Fesperman and Sylvia Shelton, as well as many friends and extended family who were all there to greet him when he arrived in his eternal home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the love and care he received at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.
Funeral services will be held at Pinnacle View Baptist Church on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 4:00pm, with visitation from 2:30 until time of service. Flowers are welcome, or memorials can be made to Pinnacle View Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
