Ross E. Ramey

Mr. Ross E. Ramey age 83 of Lowgap, NC husband of Mrs. Pauline Delp Ramey passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 at his home. He was born December 30, 1930 in Surry County to the late Daniel Corbett and Zenna Poole Ramey. He was retired from Spencer's Inc. and was a truck driver for WLA Trucking in his later years. Mr. Ramey was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Pauline D. Ramey of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Thompson and Dexter of Lowgap, two step daughters and a son-in-law, Polly Sue Lindsey and Jason of Galax, VA and Shannon Beck of Mt. Airy, two step sons, Billy Lowe and Johnny Lowe both of Lowgap, two grandchildren, Joseph Ross Thompson of Blacksburg, VA, and Elizabeth Jeane Thompson of Lowgap, five step grandchildren, Carrie Sage Lindsey of Galax, VA, Michala Lowe of King, Sara Blackwell of Greenville, SC, Sydney Lindsey of Galax, VA, and Autumn Blackwell of Spartanburg, SC, a sister, Shirley Ramey of Pinehurst, and "special friends", Barry Riggans of Trap Hill, and Donald and Doris Davis of Lowgap and a "special cousin" Vickie Ramey of Lowgap. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ramey was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Hall Ramey, a daughter, Susan Denise Ramey, two sisters, Elizabeth Daniels and Ida Lee Lowe and a brother, Paschal Ramey. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Mountain View Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Ewell Vernon and Rev. Russell Parsons. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Post 2019 Mt. Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends 1:30 pm Sunday until time of the service at Mountain View Baptist Church.
