Roy Lee Blackburn

Mr. Roy Lee Blackburn, Age 88 of Lambsburg, VA. passed away Friday morning at the Golden Living Nursing Center in Galax, VA. Mr. Blackburn was born February 28, 1925 in Carroll County, VA to the late Sanford and Verna Crotts Blackburn, he was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII, was retired from Mt. Airy Furniture Co. and was a member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Mary Ruth Spencer Blackburn of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law Katherine Lee and Andy Snow of Lambsburg and Linda Gail and Kyle Easter of Mt. Airy, one son and daughter-in-law Stephen Ray and Lynette Blackburn of Lambsburg, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two sisters Mabel Puckett and Opal Cox both of Mt. Airy; one brother and sister-in-law, Denzel and Gaye Blackburn of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents Mr. Blackburn was preceded in death by one sister Ora Blackburn and by two brothers Ferrell Blackburn and Elmer Blackburn. Graveside services will be held Sunday February 2, 2014 at 4:00 P.M. at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with services conducted by Rev. Dud Spencer. There will be no formal visitation. Moody Funeral Home will be assisting the Blackburn Family.
