Roy Roger Mears

Mr. Roy Roger Mears, age 82 of Mount Airy passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Mears was born on February 21, 1943, in Stokes County to the late Claude Alvin and Tessie Simmons Mears. Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Surviving is his daughter, Kimberly Brown; granddaughter, Brittany Martin Chandler and Jason; a great-grandchild, Laila Chandler; and his special friends, David Bailey and Sarah Hamm. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mears was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Gaye Goins Mears; an infant child, Crystal Yvonne Mears; and a granddaughter, Jessica Dawn Martin. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially nurse Kelly Cail and Chaplin JoAnn. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
