Roy Richard Shinault

Mr. Roy Richard Shinault, 71, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday morning, December 11, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mr. Shinault was born February 2, 1952, in Surry County, one of twelve children born to the late Henry James and Ethel Marie Wall Shinault.  Roy was a lifelong farmer and a loving son, brother, and friend.  He is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Patty and Wayne Smith of Robbins, Teresa DeHart of Traphill, Thelma Penley of Mount Airy, and Everette Key of Westfield; a brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Betty Shinault of Pilot Mountain; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Shinault was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Frankie and Charlie Shelton, Marie Key, Benjamin Floyd DeHart, Sr., and Burl Penley; and five brothers and a sister-in-law, Kent Shinault, Doug Shinault, Ronald Shinault, Donald Shinault, and Clayton and Verna Mae Shinault.  The funeral service will be held Monday, December 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Kermit Cockerham officiating.  Burial will follow in the DeHart-Watkins Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Calvin and Betty Shinault at 108 Country Side Drive, Pilot Mountain.
