Roy Landford Utt

Mr. Roy Landford Utt, age 88, of Mount Airy, NC passed away at the State Employees Credit Union Hospice Home in Yadkinville, NC on May 11, 2023.  Roy was born to Claude Lee & Emma Frances Mathis Utt.  Roy was married to Sally Ann Simmons Utt, they were married 57 years until Sally passed in 2014.  Roy was of the Baptist Faith!

Roy was a big fisherman!  There were weekends that he would drive to Nags Head with his fishing buddies fishing all weekend on the catwalk and drive back home Sunday evening late and be ready for work the next day!  He also loved watching NASCAR races! Roy retired from North Carolina Granite Corporation after 37 years of service!  He was a German stone cutter and operated a splitting machine in the curb yard!

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Claude & Emma Utt; his sisters, Dorothy Helen Gwyn, Laura Kathryn McCraw; brothers, Carl Ray Utt, Claude William Utt, Jr.; sister-in-law, Janet Riddle; brothers-in-law, Elbert Gwyn, Howard McCraw, William Coake, Richard Simmons, & Burney Adams.  Survivors include his daughters Karen Utt of the home, Cindy Hamm & husband Tommy; grandchildren, Travis Lee Hamm & fiancée Beckie Wagoner Martin, Tj Hamm and wife Amber, Kevin Lee Hamm & fiancé Margo Frye, Jennifer Swartz & husband Jim; great-grandchildren, Tucker Hamm, Amberly Hamm, Kaylee Hamm, Kaleb Martin, & fiancé Morgan Gray, Aiden Martin, Maddie Golding, Randle Boyd, Janie Frye, Zach Frye, Gabe Frye, Mikey Frye; sisters, Jane Coake, Geraldine Towe & husband Gary; brothers, Mack Utt & wife Josie & Phillip Ray Utt; sisters-in-law, Irene Utt, Jeannie Utt; brothers-in-law, Mike & Betty Simmons, Frank & Betty Simmons, Leon & Ina Riddle; sisters-in-law, Mary Leigh Adams and Glenda Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.  

The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Sunday evening May 14, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday May 15, 2023, at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Mark Utt and Rev. Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice Mount Airy Location and the State Employees Credit Union Hospice Home in Yadkinville during his last days!
