Roy Sanford White

Mr. Roy Sanford White, 73, of Elkin passed away on Wednesday July 20, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Sticht Center. He was born in Surry County on November 28, 1934 to the late Winnie Edgar and Alice Freeman White. Mr. White was a self-employed farmer and of the Primitive Baptist faith. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted brother Alfred and wife Iva Jean White of Elkin; a sister, Katie White Cockerham of Winston-Salem; a sister-in-law Helen White of Dobson; three nieces and five nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby White Freeman and two brothers, Delbert White and Junior White. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday August 23, 2008 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson with Rev. Tim Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 pm and other times at the home of his brother at 812 Haynes Road, Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Johnny Childress, 9122 NC 268, Elkin, NC 28621.
