Russell Eugene Knott

Mr. Russell Eugene Knott, 71, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Knott was born February 13, 1943, in Surry County, to Sarah Johnson Knott and the late Hobert Reece Knott. He was a retired carpenter. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracey and Dan Speight and Kim and Jackie Mears, all of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Jen Knott of Milton, FL; four grandchildren, Brooke Speight, Brianna Speight, Cameron Holder, and Hannah Simmons; his mother, Sarah Johnson Knott Norman of Mount Airy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenda and Tommy Cain of Mount Airy and Gail and Maynard Horton of Claudville, VA; a brother, H.R. Knott of Mount Airy; and a "special" nephew and his wife, Brad and Rebecca Calloway of Mount Airy. In addition to his father, Mr. Knott was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Knott. There will not be any formal services at the funeral home. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 8, 2014, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the home of Mr. Knott's mother, 2355 South Main Street, Mount Airy.
