Ruth Reeves Draughn

Mrs. Ruth Reeves Draughn, 91, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, December 30, 2023.  Mrs. Draughn was born November 15, 1932, in Surry County, one of eleven children born to the late Otto and Nettie Shelton Reeves.  Ruth retired from Cross Creek Apparel after 32 years of service and was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church.  She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Theresa Draughn Collins and Carolyn and Mike Willey; her grandchildren, Tracy and Chris Thomas, Ruth Ann Badgett, Dale and Betty Bunn, and Joe and Megan Willey; her stepgrandchildren, Amy and Trent James and Melissa Holt; her great-grandchildren, Daniel Bunn, Nathan and Stacy Gunter, Logan Badgett, Lacey Badgett, Will Thomas, Lynzie Thomas, Ryder James, E.C. James, Katilyn and Tyler Lambeth, Haley Holt, and Dawsyn Willey; her great-great-grandchildren, Nolan and Noah; a sister, Minnie Reeves Loflen; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Draughn was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Hoover “Bill” Draughn; a son-in-law, Ray Dowling Collins; and nine siblings.  The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Kevin Minix officiating.  Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, P.O.
