Samuel Haywood Goins

Mr. Samuel Haywood Goins, 84, of Cana, VA, passed away Thursday evening, February 1, 2024, at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy.  Mr. Goins was born April 19, 1939, in Patrick County, VA, the only child born to the late Rufus Martin and Esther Mae King Goins.  Haywood retired from Siemens Westinghouse and was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Magdalene Meredith Goins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Mike Creed and Janet and Paul Howlett; a son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Missy Goins; his grandchildren, Brandy and Joey Parrish, Daniel Creed, Lutreicia and Gary Norman, Robbie Goins, and Zack Goins; and his great-grandchildren, Levi Creed, Jeremiah Parrish, Isabella Norman, and Ian Norman.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Goins was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Terrie Michelle Goins; and a son, Samuel Timothy Goins.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Pete King officiating.  Burial will follow in the Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
