Mr. Samuel Clay “Sam” Moser, 70, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 10, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.  Mr. Moser was born February 1, 1953, in Surry County, the younger of two children born to the late William Clay “W.C.” Moser, Jr. and Barbara Harbour Moser.  Sam was reared in the Level Cross community and graduated from Surry Central High School in 1971.  He retired from Duke Energy after 37 years of service and was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church.  Sam was a proud family man, who cherished spending time with his family, attending his sons and grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events, and was an avid outdoorsman.  He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Wendy Whitaker Moser; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jason and Grayson Moser, Jared and Ashley Moser, and Josh Moser; five grandchildren, Brett Samuel Moser, Sammi Grace Moser, Nolan Blake Moser, Natalie Brooke Moser, and Sadie Grace Moser; a sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Kenny Shaw; a niece, Barb Readinger; a nephew and his wife, Col. Clay and Teddi Readinger; two great-nieces, Billi Readinger and Charli Readinger; a great-nephew, Lain Readinger; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Moser was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wendell and Monette Draughn Whitaker.  A service of worship and celebration of Sam’s life will be held Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Highland Park Baptist Church, with Dr. Darrell Tate officiating.  A private burial will follow in the Level Cross United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Highland Park Baptist Church.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by Dr. Susan J. Hines and the staff at Novant Health Cancer Institute.  Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park Baptist Church, 1327 Grove Lane, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
