Sandra Stanley Atkins

Mrs. Sandra Stanley Atkins, age 80, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the SECU Hospice Care Facility in Yadkinville, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 25, 1945, in Surry County, to the late Ralph Edward Stanley, and the late Winifred Hannah Taylor Stanley. Mrs. Atkins was a devoted and loving wife, mother, nana and sister. Mrs. Atkins spent her career as a bookkeeper for the Surry County Schools System and after retirement, she worked part time in the Surry County finance office. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Atkins Ray and Gene Ray; her son and daughter-in-law, James Madison Atkins and Michele Atkins; granddaughter, Chelsey Madyson Atkins and her fiancé, Noah Willard; her brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Linda Stanley; and her brother, David Stanley; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Houston “Jay” Atkins; brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and June Stanley; sister-in-law, Wanda Stanley; and her brother, Pete Stanley. Visitation will be Friday, May 1, 2026, from 1:00-3:00 PM, at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. The service will begin at 3:00 PM, in the Moody-Davis Chapel, with Pastor Chris Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SECU Hospice Facility, PO Box 325, Dobson NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Service is serving the Atkins family.
