Sarah Jane Payne

Mrs. Sarah Jane Sharp Payne, age 55, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born January 29, 1966, in Galax Va. to Estelle Matilda “Dolly” Melton Lineberry, who survives, and the late Robert Forest Sharp. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Walker Rhett Farley and her grandmother, Margaret Gertrude Melton. Left to cherish her memories are her mother, her loving husband, Alex Ivan Payne; her daughters and sons-in-law, Brittany Payne Mullis and James Mullis, Alexandria Payne Farley and Travis Farley and Bristol Rose Payne (Alexander Moore); grandchildren, Kaydence Alexius Mullis, Emerie Taylor Mullis, Abbigail Jane Mullis, Magnolia Nicole Moore, Jacob Alan Farley and Alex Tyler Farley; sisters, Vicky Riley and Sandra “Liz” Phillips; and her brothers, Charlie Melton and Robert Sharp. Mrs. Payne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a member of Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church and had worked as a deputy sheriff in Forsyth County. Visitation will be Friday, January 21, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Flat Top Primitive Church. A celebration of her life will follow at 11:00 am with Elder Alex Payne, Elder Carlton Brown and Elder Lowell Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Payne family.
