Mrs. Sarah Elza Felts Speas, 81, of 15068 Fancy Gap Highway, Cana, VA, passed away Wednesday morning, July 4, 2012, at Twelve Oaks Rest Home in Mount Airy. Mrs. Speas was born July 18, 1930, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late Richard and Lula Martin Felts. She retired from Henredon Furniture Company and was a member of Skyview Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Oscar Thomas of Cana, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Becky Speas of East Bend; a granddaughter and her husband, Jennifer and Josh Sumner of Dobson; a grandson and his wife, Stephen and Mikki McCraw of Cana, VA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Speas was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Rector Speas; two sisters, Etta Felts Evans and Annie Ruth Felts Flippin; and four brothers, Earl Felts, Sherman Felts, Herman Felts, and Calvin Felts. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 6, 2012, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Skyview Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 3:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Diane and Oscar Thomas, 13821 Fancy Gap Highway, Cana, VA. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Twelve Oaks Rest Home, the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, and her special caregivers, Sarah Palmer and Debbie Gardner, for the loving and compassionate care they provided.
