Shane Jonathan Gates

Mr. Shane Jonathan Gates, 51, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023, at his mother’s home in Lambsburg, VA, surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Gates was born April 29, 1972, in Surry County, to John Gates and Gale Gates Grow.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by his adored children and their spouses, Olivia Gates, Zachary and Ashlee Gates, Brandon Gates, and Cameron Koehler; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Russ Throckmorton and Alyssa and Travis Reeves; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Daniel and Kim Gates, T.J. Gates, and Clayton Gray; step-son Cody Cecil and Angie; step-daughter Brianna Koehler, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gates was preceded in death by a stepson, Garrett Koehler.  Shane will be deeply missed by the many that loved and knew him.  A celebration of Shane’s life will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the family home, located at 80 Marcus Lane in Lambsburg, VA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.  Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Gates family.
