Mr. Sherman Scott “Scotty” Marion age 65 of Shoals, NC at the foot of the mountain, passed away on October 25, 2026, at Duke Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County on August 4, 1961, to the son of the late Charlie and Flo Wood Marion. Scotty grew up in the Shoals community working on a tobacco farm with his father and brothers. He was an active member of the Shoals community for 40 years where he played softball, coached and was President of the Shoals Softball League. He recently retired from sales in the wholesale building supply industry. Over the last 20 years along with his brother, Joel, he found a new passion in investing and pursuing business opportunities. Together they built more than just a partnership, they found another way to help others, strengthen their community, and enjoy doing what they loved side by side in developing CDM Investments. He was a faithful member of 65 years at Woodland Baptist Church in Rural Hall, NC where he was a member of the Auditorium Class. He was proud that he and his entire family was raised and saved at Woodland Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend where faith and family were first and foremost. He was a man of few words and had a heavy impact on everyone he met and was the same whether working in the woods, on the ballfield, or at church on Sunday.
Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Beverly Turney Marion; two daughters, Jessi Marion and Sami Marion; a brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Teresa Marion; his niece and nephew Sydney Marion and John Boy Marion; a mother-in-law, Betty Jo Boyles; and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Richard “Ricky” Marion, fathers-in-law, Ralph Turney, and Don Boyles and several aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday October 31, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Woodland Baptist Church 1175 Bethania-Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106, with Rev. Tim Gammons officiating. The family will receive family and friends at Woodland Baptist Church on Friday October 30, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Interment will be held at Fairview Church of Shoals. The Marion family would like to thank the entire staff under the leadership of Dr. Lindsay King at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC.
