Shirley Marie Moxley

Mrs. Shirley Marie Smith Moxley, age 65, of Mount Airy, passed away at her residence on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Mrs. Moxley was born in Monroe County, West Virginia to the late Walter Thomas Smith, Sr., and Margie Gladys Bostic Smith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Smith was a career truck driver, serving this country driving the many miles of hauling goods. She was a loving, faithful person, who cared dearly for others, and would give you the shirt off her back. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Tabatha Aiken and Joey Bennett, Michelle Wright; sons and daughter-in-law, Richard Moxley, Robert Lee Smith and Jamie, James S. Byrd; grandchildren, Michael Moxley, Nicholas Smith, Robert Smith, Austin Moxley; four great grandchildren; sister, Connie Mayberry; sister-in-law, Betty Smith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moxley was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Kenneth Moxley; sister, Juanita Smith; brother, Walter T. Smith; infant brother, Robert Lee Smith. Per Mrs. Moxley’s request, there will not be any formal services held at this time. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Moxley family.
