Shirley Mae Warren

Mrs. Shirley Meadows Warren, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Surry Community Health and Rehab.  Mrs. Warren was born in Surry County on August 29, 1938 one of eight children to the late J. Van and Edith Parries Collins.  Shirley is survived by a god daughter, Melanie Rogers of Sanford; sisters, Ethel Brannock, Marie Westmoreland, Brenda Collins, all of Mount Airy, and Judy Barton and husband Leighton of Sanford.  Also, she was blessed with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by her first husband, James D. Meadows, her second husband, Harold Eugene Warren; an infant sister, Mary Louise Collins; and brothers, Leroy Collins and Thomas Wade Collins. Mrs. Warren was a member of First Presbyterian Church and worked in the accounting field for many years as well as working as a telephone operator for Central Telephone Company.  She was an excellent golfer and an avid University of North Carolina Tarheel fan.  Due to the limitations of numbers for public gatherings at this time (COVID-19), the family will have a private graveside service.  Memorial contribution may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Moody Funeral Service in Mount Airy is serving the Warren family.
