Mr. Stephen Ray Griffin, 42, of 226 Deatherage Road, Mount Airy, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday afternoon, May 3, 2012, from Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Griffin was born May 23, 1969, in Surry County, the son of the late Bobby and Norma Faith Mahoney Griffin. Stephen began working at Burger King in Mount Airy at the age of 15. With determination and a strong work ethic, Stephen became an accomplished district manager as he worked his way up the corporate ladder. Stephen and his family loved animals, especially Louie, B.J., Nick, Ellie, Titan, and the late Baron. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 15 years, Paula Jones Griffin of the home; a son, Stephen Banner Paul Griffin of the home; a "special daughter," Chasity Faw Wagoner of Mount Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Herman Tate of Mount Airy; a brother, Donnie Griffin of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Jo Ann Stanley Jones of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his father-in-law, George Paul Jones. The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 6, 2012, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Clayton King officiating. Entombment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Stephen will be fondly remembered by his many friends, whom he dearly cherished and treasured.
