Mr. Stuart Edson "Bucky" Foster, 71, of 240 Camelia Court, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, June 20, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Foster was born January 26, 1941, in Ware, MA, the son of the late Edmund Edson and Helen Doris Dorow Foster. Bucky worked as a mixer at General Foods Corporation in Orange, MA, for several years and later joined L.S. Starrett Company in Athol, MA. While working for L.S. Starrett Company in Athol, the company relocated Bucky and his family to Mount Airy in 1988. He retired from Starrett in 2002 after 37 years of service. Mr. Foster served as a volunteer firemen, forest fire warden, and chief of Petersham Volunteer Fire Department in Petersham, MA, for 35 years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sally Vickers Foster of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Gene Johnson of Mount Airy; and two grandsons, Brandon Johnson and Steven Johnson, both of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Foster was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Stuart Foster and Steven Gary Foster; and an infant sister, Karen Foster. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, with a tribute, honor guard, and final call provided by the City of Mount Airy Fire Department. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
