Sylvia Jane Mosley Hemmings

Mrs. Sylvia Jane Mosley Hemmings, age 83, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born in Surry County on June 4, 1940, to the late Edgar Wallace Mosley and Opal Devota Bange Mosley. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her.  Left to cherish her memory are daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila  Hull and Dale, Karen Morse and Sandy; grandchildren, Amber Mullins, Emily Aronson and Zach, Katie Seal and Ethan; eight great grandchildren and one on the way; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hemmings was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Franklin Hemmings, Sr.; a son, Douglas Franklin Hemmings Jr.; a grandchild, Christopher Allen Slate; a sister, Leannah Wilhite; a brother, Roger Mosley.  A private burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery.  The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for all the care and kindness given to Mrs. Hemmings.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Hemmings to Gospel Mission Baptist Church, 1046 Linville Rd, Mount Airy, NC. 27030
