Sylvia Ann Hicks

Miss Sylvia Ann “Sibby” Hicks, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, April 25, 2018, at her home.  Miss Hicks was born March 21, 1945, in Surry County, one of six children born to the late William Alfred “Bill” Hicks, Sr. and Edith Sylvia Jarrell Hicks.  Sylvia, affectionately known as Sibby to her family and friends, was considered the “princess” of the Hicks family.  She truly taught others to love one another, just as Christ loves each and every one.  Sibby loved books, pudding, and coffee with lots of sugar and milk, and she appreciated backrubs from her loved ones.  Her family will always remember her gentle spirit and sweet, sweet voice.  She is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Jerry Beverly and Kathe and Teddy Beaver, all of Mount Airy; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William Alfred “Billy” Hicks, Jr. and Lu Ann Hicks, Mark and Margaret Hicks, and Tony and Kristine Hicks, all of Mount Airy; and many nieces and nephews.  The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Buford E. Jessup officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at American Healthcare Services, Inc. and the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.  Sibby’s siblings are also very grateful for the tender, loving care from Jerry, Teddy, Lu Ann, Margaret, and Kristine.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC  27030.
