Ms. Tanya Handy Dalton, age 49 of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, passed away on May 1, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital surrounded by her children and family. She was born in Patrick County on January 20, 1977, to the late Clyde “Pete” Handy and Betty Marshall Handy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Lonnie Nathaniel Handy and Carrie Ann Handy; paternal grandparents, Harry and Lizzie Handy; maternal grandparents, Alvalee and Mary Marshall. Tanya will be remembered as a loving mother, adoring grandmother, caring sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. Her legacy of love will carry on through her children and grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye.

Left to cherish the memories of Tanya are her four children, Cody Dalton of Bassett, Toby Dalton and Sierra Hutchens of Stuart, Hannah Dalton and Justin Bowles of Martinsville, and Holly Dalton and Logan Kiernan of Collinsville; five grandchildren, Naomi, Braxton, Rosalea, Audrey, and Gunnar; three brothers, Ronnie Handy and Dyan of Meadows of Dan, Harry Handy and Angie of Meadows of Dan, Daniel Handy and Alysia Quarles of Meadows of Dan; one sister, Tammy Stennett and Marvin of Stoneville, NC; one maternal aunt, Neda Marshall of Collinsville; one maternal uncle Frankie Marshall and Peggy of Floyd; paternal aunt Beatrice Handy of Meadows of Dan; nieces and nephews, Danielle, Emily, Melanie, Jessica, Jacob, Isaiah, Nathaniel, Koa, Alex, and Triston; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jade, Jesselee, Josh, Bella, Harper, Isabella, Alexander, Jerimiah, and Jameson.
