Mr. Taylor John Welch, 30, of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday night, August 2, 2022.  Mr. Welch was born February 12, 1992, in Surry County, the son of James Edmond Welch, Jr. and Lisa Hiatt Whisenhunt.  Taylor was a true sports enthusiast, especially the Philadelphia Eagles (football) and New Orleans Pelicans (basketball).  His family and friends will remember him best for debating anything and everything, no matter the subject matter, especially about the earth being flat or any conspiracy theory.  He possessed a big heart and loved his family immensely.  He enjoyed family gatherings and fast cars and bikes.  Taylor lived each day as it was his last and never wanted to worry about the future.  Oftentimes, he stated he was never going to live in fear of death and what-ifs.  Taylor had worked as a general foreman at Asplundh for the last 6 years.  He is survived by his wife, Allison Renee Puckett Welch of the home; his mother and stepfather, Lisa and Wayne Whisenhunt of Mount Airy; his father, James Edmond Welch, Jr. of Mount Airy; two brothers, Zackary Welch of Hendersonville and Johannes Arnold of Mount Airy; a sister, Yana Welch and her fiancé, Colton Wuchner, of Ararat, VA; a stepsister, Amber Whisenhunt of Floyd, VA; a stepbrother, Justin Whisenhunt of Mount Airy; his maternal grandmother, Judy Hiatt of Mount Airy; his stepgrandparents, Roy and Dianne Whisenhunt of Mocksville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dean and Ginger Puckett of Mount Airy; two sisters-in-law, Trista Tyson of Mount Airy and Amber Puckett of Dobson; two brothers-in-law, Cody Stevens and Preston Stevens, both of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews, Cannon Wuchner, Reid Price, Rayedan Price, Jordan Galvan-Moreno, Christopher Galvan-Moreno, Aysia Edwards, Tyler Stevens, Madison Stevens, Natalie Stevens, Evelyn Stevens, Benjamin Stevens, Lucas Tyson, Hailey Puckett, and Emma Tyson; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his fur babies, Mack, Kuzma, and Luna.  Mr. Welch was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Billy Ray Hiatt; and his paternal grandparents, James Edmond Welch, Sr. and Ann Welch.  A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Valley Brook Farm at 529 Bob Jessup Road, Mount Airy.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Valley Brook Farm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mayberry 4 Paws, 210 Country Club Road, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
