Terry Lee Newman

Mr. Terry Lee Newman, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, October 26, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Terry was born on October 21, 1948, in Surry County. He worked with A&W and WLA Trucking for many years. He enjoyed watching drag racing and going to the track, his favorite thing was attending Family Fest in Gatlinburg, Tennessee for many years, with his wife and granddaughter.

Terry attended Temple Baptist Church, where he dearly loved his church and church family.

Mr. Newman is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Phyllis; one daughter, Christy (Alain); two grandchildren, Amber Miller and Austin Conner (Abby); three great-grandchildren, Jettsyn Lee Conner, Emmi-Jo Austyn Conner, and Amelia Rose Kennedy; two brothers-in-law, Arvil Gammons (Janie) and Alton Gammons (Carol); one sister-in-law, Linda Gammons; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Newman was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Bracky Rogers and Cleon Gammons, and one sister-in-law, Wanda Gammons Rogers.

A graveside service will be held at Westfield Friends Meeting Cemetery on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 11:00 with Rev. Zane Fishel officiating.
