Ms. Thelma Mae Lawson, age 78 of Stuart, VA passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2026 at the SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville, NC. She was born in Patrick County on March 3, 1948 to William David Lawson and Nannie Woods Lawson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Bobby Lawson, Richard Lawson, Ronnie Lawson, and Hassell Lawson.

She never met a stranger and enjoyed going to PARC workshop and spending time with her friends. She loved singing and going to Five Forks Wesleyan Church, and also loved her group home family.

She is survived by a brother, Donnie Lawson; and two sister-in-laws, Ruth Lawson and Sylvia Carol Lawson and nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Patrick Memorial Gardens with Pastor Michael Fain officiating.
