Tommy Carnell Heath

Mr. Tommy Carnell Heath, 65, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at his home. Mr. Heath was born March 31, 1943, in Surry County, to Henry Walter and Vergal Mae McBride Heath. He was a loving father and grandfather and a good friend to all who knew him. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracey and Ronald Martin and Heather and Charles Newman, II, all of Mount Airy; two sons, Tommy Heath of Mount Airy and Timmy Heath of Lexington; two grandchildren, Kelly Martin of Greenville and T.J. Heath of Mount Airy; a stepgrandson and his spouse, Chris and Heather Martin of Mount Airy; four great-stepgrandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Lettie Heath and Wayne and Linda Heath, all of Mount Airy; and the mothers of his children, Lorraine Heath and Cheryl Holder, both of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Heath was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Lee Franklin "Frankie" Heath. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jimmy McCraw and Mr. Monroe Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the McBride Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, February 6, 2009, from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
