Mr. Travis Nelson “Shorty” Dollyhite, age 49, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. Shorty was born in Surry County, on November 21, 1975, to Ethel Faye Pack Dollyhite and the late Gary Nelson Dollyhite. Shorty as known to many was a man of many traits, whether he was doing carpentry work and landscaping, worked many years at Riverside Building Supply as yard manager, spending time with his family, or being a friend to anyone. He was a loving husband, father, the best grandfather, and sibling, he’ll be deeply missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish Shorty’s memory is his wife, Natasha “Tasha” Needham Dollyhite; daughter, Mattie Jane Dollyhite; sons and their spouses, Wyatt Dollyhite, Blake Dollyhite and Jessica Parker, Devin Dollyhite and Savannah Hodges; step daughter, Makenzie Slate and Wyatt; grandchildren, Zackariah Dollyhite, Ellasyn Dollyhite, Zayden Dollyhite; sister, Niki Stevens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin Dollyhite and Valerie, Kelvin Dollyhite and Tami; several nieces and nephews; many dear and close friends. A funeral service to honor Shortys’ life will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Blue Hollow Baptist Church with Pastor Steven Hamm officiating. A burial will follow at the Dollyhite Family cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 12:00 PM until time of the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
