Mrs. Treva Riddle Kirkman, 87, of Mt. Airy, widow of Mr. Glen Kirkman was called home to be with the Lord on Monday May 12, 2014 at her residence. She was born March 10, 1927 in Surry County to the late Floyd and Ada Sparger Riddle. Mrs. Kirkman was co-owner and operator of Sheltontown Grocery and had worked for Bo Peep Kindergarden. She was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church. She was a loving wife mother, grandmother and great grandmother whom everyone adored. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Wayne Hudson of Mt. Airy, a daughter-in-law, Nora Kirkman of Clemmons, grandchildren and spouse, Travis Hudson, Jessica Hudson, Erin Kirkman, and Heather and Will Naylor. and a great grandchild, Allyson Naylor, a sister, Thelma Inman of Mt. Airy, a special niece, Wanda East and two special care givers and family friends, Parabell Hiatt and Remano Goins both of Mt. Airy.. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kirkman was preceded in death by two sons, Phil Kirkman and Mitchell Kirkman, two sisters, Mallie Love and Phatima Riddle and two brothers, Sherman and John Riddle. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday , May 15, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Mickey Cogdill and Rev. Kevin Wilson. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 12:30 pm Thursday until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Bannertown Baptist Church Family and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love and excellent care given to the Kirkman family during Mrs. Kirkman's illness
