Vance Ayers

Mr. Vance Ayers, 82, of 5645 Ararat Highway, Ararat, VA, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Ayers was born November 9, 1926, in Patrick County, VA, to Mildred Epperson Ayers and the late Rush Walter Ayers. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired electrician. He was a member of Unity Church. Surviving are a daughter, Sheila Thrift of Newport News, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Garner and Marilyn Ayers of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Shane Thrift of Newport News, VA, and Patty Brewer of Jacksonville, FL; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Mildred Epperson Ayers of Ararat, VA; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathleen Yeatts of Columbia, SC, Jeanne and Frank O'Dowd of Miami, FL, Patricia and Bernie Coniglo of Chicago, IL, and Mildred Simmons of Ararat, VA; and a brother, Robert W. Ayers of Jacksonville, FL. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 15, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Buford Jessup officiating.
