Vance Alvin Pratt

Mr. Vance Alvin Pratt, 80, of 219 Smith Landing Road, Mount Airy, formerly of Stoneville, passed away Sunday morning, October 30, 2011, at his home. Mr. Pratt was born August 10, 1931, in Rockingham County, the son of the late John and Evelyn Snead Pratt. Alvin worked as a machine fixer at Stoneville Furniture Company for many years and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Alvin was an avid NASCAR fan and a collector and mechanic of Ford tractors. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelia and Scott Lambert of Pilot Mountain and Cynthia and Joel McCraw of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Garland and Ann Rakestraw of Stoneville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pratt was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Kemp Pratt Evans; a brother, William "Billy" Pratt; and his former wife, Norma Cassandra "Sandra" Wright Nelson. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at 2:00 PM at The Peoples Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Earl McCraw officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
