Velmer Patterson Hatfield

Mr. Velmer Patterson Hatfield, age 65 of Mount Airy, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Hatfield was born on February 4, 1960, in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Virgil Lee Hatfield, Sr. and Geraldine Kennedy Hatfield. Velmer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him. Surviving is his wife, Kimberly Bowman Hatfield, son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Morton and Linda; four grandchildren, Sarah Morton, Kylee Morton, Angel Adame, Kaylin Adame; two sisters, Gail Hatfield Ball, Carolyn Hatfield Lester; a brother, Virgil Lee Hatfield, Jr; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hatfield was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Hatfield Blackburn; and two brothers, Russell Hatfield, and Ernie Hatfield. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Johnny Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the care and support provided to Mr. Hatfield during his illness.
