Mrs. Velno Wiles Johnson, age 97, of Elkin, NC, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin, NC.  She was born in Wilkes County on June 9, 1926, to the late William Cortez Wiles and the late Lura Pruitt Wiles.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her first husband, Allen Norman and her second husband, James Johnson; sisters, Reba Durham, Vivian Durham; brothers, Stacy Wiles, ER Wiles, Bryce Wiles, Billy Wiles, LD Wiles, Ronnie Wiles.  Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Phil Whitaker, Linda and Dale Poindexter; grandchildren, Phil and Missy Whitaker, Jeff and Lauren Whitaker, David and Jennifer Poindexter and Robert and Andrea Poindexter; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Josie Crouse, Mildred and Jimmy Billings; brother and sister-in-law, Dexter and Mary Lou Wiles. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Little Richmond Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Brookshire officiating.  There will be no formal services held at the funeral home.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 315, Dobson, NC 27017.  Moody-Davis Funeral Service is serving the Johnson family.
