Vernon George Inscore

Mr. Vernon George Inscore, 65, of 3363 Willis Gap Road, Ararat, VA, passed away early Monday morning, August 25, 2014, at the home of his mother. Mr. Inscore was born August 20, 1949, in Patrick County, VA, to Sylvia Hawks Inscore and the late Richard Inscore. Vernon worked at Proctor-Silex Inc. for many years and later at Van Heusen in Elkin. His love of cars and trucks and going to cruise-ins and car shows were his sport and passion. He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Hawks Inscore of Ararat, VA; a sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Benjie Hiatt of Mount Airy; two nephews, Brian King (Evelyn) of Claudville, VA, and Timothy King (Dawn Pack) of Ararat, VA; a great niece, Bailey King; a great nephew, Adam King; and a special friend, Mary Lou McBride of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Billy Stegall officiating. Burial will follow in the Willis Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Sylvia Hawks Inscore, 3333 Willis Gap Road, Ararat, VA.
