Verona Lee Arrington Wright

Mrs. Verona Lee Arrington Wright, 72, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023, at her home.  Mrs. Wright was born November 26, 1950, in Surry County, to the late William Howard and Jennie Mae Sutphin Arrington.  Verona was a retired and well-respected nurse from Northern Surry Hospital.  She loved her kids and grandkids with a passion.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will surely be missed by all who knew her.  Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Donald Gray Wright; two daughters, Jennifer Wright and Victoria Summer; two grandchildren, Skye Wright and Seth Martin; two sisters, Patricia Shelton and Faye Hutchens; and a special niece, Shasta Daughenbaugh.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela Faye Wright; a son, Donovan Lee Wright; a sister, Jean Shelton; and a brother, Wayne Arrington.  The funeral service will be held Monday, March 27, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Donnie Hooker and the Rev. Ethan Hooker officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  At other times, the family welcomes friends to her daughter’s home at 122 Willis Road, Mount Airy.
