Vicky Gaye Surratt

Ms. Vicky Gaye Surratt, age 70, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2025, at Trellis Supportive Care surrounded by her friends and family. Vicky was born in Surry County on June 21, 1955, to the late Aldine “Red” and Janie Nunn. She was a loving mother, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Vicky, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, loved helping others. Through her work she was a light and helping hand when others were going through their darkest times. One such person, a young attorney, made a point to stop by her office to thank Vicky for believing in her. Citing this encouragement as a turning point in her life. Outside of work, she repeatedly ventured to Nicaragua to provide aid, encouragement and support to their people providing special care for the children. Vicky had a heart full of love for all and worked tirelessly to make the world a better place one person at a time. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Evan Warren; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy Garrison and Paul; nieces, Lori Crowder, Dominque Helton and Alexis Nunn; nephews, Chase Miller and Nicholas Nunn; great niece, Finley Crowder; great nephews, Nash and Cooper Crowder; cousins and special friends, Bob Dearman, Robert and Mary Logan. In addition to her parents, Ms. Surratt was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Nunn. A graveside service to honor Vicky’s life will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on July 12, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM. The family wishes to thank the staff of Trellis Hospice and everyone for the prayers and support through Vicky’s sickness. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Surratt family.
