Mrs. Virgie Helen Griffith, age 80, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born on July 6, 1946 in Patrick County to the late Eugene Martin Sr and the late Sarah Eunice Lewis Martin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Walter Griffith; children, Rhonda Gullatt (Jeff), Gary Griffith (Connie), Terry Griffith, Marie Flippin, Randy Griffith (Denise); grandchildren, Austin Griffith (Nikki), Gabrielle Griffith, Mikey Flippin (Kimberly), Alexandria Flippin, Savannah Nester, Doug Nester (Emily), Kimmy Griffith, and Isaac Griffith; seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Griffith and Christine Hensley; brother Leon Martin. In addition to her parents Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by a son, Roger Eugene Griffith; sisters, Ethel Vipperman, Thelma Griffith, and Alice Haymore; brothers, Henry Martin and Ira Martin. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with service conducted by Rev. Kelly Boyd. Burial will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until time for the service at the funeral home.
