Virginia Sutphin Bunker

Mrs. Virginia Sutphin Bunker, 99, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, July 15, 2015, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living Facility. Mrs. Bunker was born April 27, 1916, in Surry County, one of three daughters born to the late Luke and Viola Nichols Sutphin. Virginia retired from The May Department Stores Company in Jacksonville, FL, and was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bunker was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Conoy Bunker; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Carolyn Bunker; and two sisters, Irene Sutphin Combs and Garnell Sutphin McMillian. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 17, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with Gray Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:00 until 10:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 314 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
