Virginia Lee Collins Lowe

Mrs. Virginia Lee Collins Lowe, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, June 17, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Lowe was born February 5, 1934, in Randolph County, the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Lillie Mae Johnson Collins. She was a loving wife and mother, who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Virginia was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59½ years, Charles Minor Lowe of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Warren Hiatt of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Janice Lowe of Mount Airy; two grandsons, Charles Lowe and Bryan Hiatt, both of Mount Airy; a great-granddaughter, Cassidy Bevins; a special niece and caregiver, Vickie Wimbish; and a special friend, Wanda Gentry. Also surviving are a sister, Viola Bartley of Lowgap; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey and Joyce Collins of Winchester, VA, and Joe Bill and Macy Collins of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lowe was preceded in death by her stepmother, Lula Collins; three sisters, Hazel Newman, Helen Mae Hale, and Pauline Dollyhigh; and two brothers, Raymond Collins and Wilbur Collins. A service of thanks and celebration of life will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 1:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Edwards and the Rev. Larry Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church, and other times at the home of Debbie and Warren Hiatt, 294 Fireside Lane, Mount Airy. Her body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the funeral service at Faith Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 217 Faith Baptist Church Way, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
