Virginia Mae (Gwyn) Easter

Mrs. Virginia Mae Gwyn Easter, age 92 of Mount Airy, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Easter was born April 19, 1933, in Surry County to the late Jessie Lee and Rosa Bell Gwyn Gwynn. Mae was a loving wife mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She and her husband owned and operated a furniture refinishing business for many years. Mr. Easter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving is her daughter, Shirley Easter Utt; five grandchildren, Archie Utt and Susan, James “Rusty” Utt and Holly, Zackery Utt and Lauren, Tiffany Hiatt and Michael, James Weaver; many great-grandchildren, many great great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Gardner, Julie Gwynn, and Christine Tate; several nieces and nephews; special hospice friends, Beth, April, Teresa, Amy; and special friends, Jessie, Toni, and Adrian. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Easter was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Easter, daughter, Kathy Easter Weaver; four sisters, Annie Jane Gwyn, Minnie Surratt, Mary Alice Gwyn, and Ernestine Gwyn; and two brothers, Robert Gwyn and Paul Gwyn. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Cana, Virginia with Reverend Roy Quesenberry, Reverend Freddie Hawks, Dr. Jonathan Casstevens, and Reverend Jack Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Solid Rock Baptist Church from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
