Virginia Mae Thomas Norman

Mrs. Virginia Mae Thomas Norman, 95, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, December 28, 2025, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Norman was born May 17, 1930, in Surry County, one of ten children born to the late John Samuel and Annie Mathis Thomas. Virginia was employed for many years as a beautician and later served as manager of Hinkle’s Bookstore. She was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. Virginia is survived by her husband of 78 years, Carl Thomas Norman; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Vetina and Joseph Wright, Betty Lou Thomas, and Pansy Cromer; a brother, Jerry Wayne Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Nellie Thomas, Joanna and Lester Vernon, and Glenda and Glenn Pike; and two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Roy and Mary Thomas, Bobby and Alice Thomas, and Annie Thomas. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:30 until 11:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
