Virginia Edwards Roberts

Virginia Edwards Roberts, 90, went home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2012. Ginny, as she was called, was born on January 28th, 1922 in Mount Airy, North Carolina and was a resident of Satellite Beach since 1966. Mrs. Roberts was a homemaker and devoted wife to CMSgt Clyde L. Roberts, her faithful husband and partner of 65 years. She graduated from Mount Airy High School, where she met her future husband and from there she went on to work as a court reporter attached to the Overseas Replacement Depot at Greensboro, North Carolina and military bases on Guam. In her late 50's she launched a second successful career in real estate with Chuck Willis, Century 21, Satellite Beach. After marrying, Ginny dedicated herself to homemaking and raising her three children, Steve, Susan and Richard. Ginny was an avid golfer, bridge player and sportswoman enjoying many happy hours sharing sun and fun with her husband, Clyde, on the links at Patrick Air Force Base and at travel destinations around the world in their retirement years. Mrs. Roberts' s family includes her mother and father, Grace and Eli Edwards, her sister Foye Tilley, baby brother Ray Edwards, and son Steve Roberts, all gone home to be with Jesus. Her smile will be missed by husband Clyde Roberts, son, Rick Roberts, daughter Susan Harrison and grandson, Samuel Richardson of Central Florida and her sister Willie Poore of Mount Airy, and nieces Gina Poore and Trudy Willard and nephews David Poore and Larry and Wilburn Tilley. Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 16 at 2pm at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel with services conducted by Hal Finney. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
