Virginia Ellen Shelor

Mrs. Virginia Ellen Shelor, age 86 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born on June 9, 1925 in Eden, North Carolina to the late Charles Ellis and Lillie Reynolds Shelor. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shelor was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Shelor and five brothers, Leonard, Grant, Raymond, Glenn and Floyd Shelor. She had been a longtime member of Meadows of Dan Baptist Church.
Mrs. Shelor is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Maurice R. "Smokey" and Cathy Shelor of Lewisville, North Carolina; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and John Ayers of Stuart and Mary Jean "Jeannie" and Gary Saunders of Roanoke; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shelor will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church with Pastor Shawn Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
