Wade Marvin Galyean, 80, of Mount Airy, North Carolina passed away peacefully at Dunmore Plantation on October 23, 2026. Born July 1, 1946, in Surry County to the late Osby and Amy Hodges Galyean. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, fisherman, and hunter. He was also a beloved uncle and friend to many. A faithful member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church, he dedicated his heart and life to serving the Lord and his church. Throughout the years, Wade faithfully served in many roles, including choir director, deacon, and Sunday school teacher, always striving to make sure God’s light shone through him in all that he did. His unwavering faith, servant’s heart, and genuine love for others made a lasting impact on countless lives throughout his lifetime. Though he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, there is comfort in knowing that he has finally been united with his two greatest loves: his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and his loving wife, Kay. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter and son-in-law, Jewel Hefner and Jeremy; sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne Galyean and Vicky, and John Galyean; grandchildren, Jacob Galyean and Tamara, Corey Galyean, Maddie Hefner, Kayley Hefner, Dustin Wilmoth and Brittany, and Devin Wilmoth; great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Galyean, Ellie Galyean, Elijah Galyean, and Madelyn Wilmoth; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth Galyean Oakley and Luther; and special nephew “brother,” Kenneth Lowe. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy “Kay” Bruner Galyean; and sisters, Betty Rae Galyean, Linda Galyean Davis, and Peggy Galyean Thornton. The family will receive friends Sunday night, October 25, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Amazing Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Dunmore Plantation for their loving on “Pa” like their own. The family would also like to give special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amazing Grace Baptist Church.
