Wade Otis Phillips

Mr. Wade Otis Phillips, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, April 14, 2023, at his home.  Mr. Phillips was born on November 4, 1944, in Surry County, to the late Warren and Opal Lannie Hawks Phillips.  Wade was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He owned and operated Phillips Motors for more than 53 years and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  Surviving are his wife and the love of his life, Janice Elizabeth Bennett Phillips; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ken Phillips and his fiancée, Ann Katherine Llewellyn, Kemp and Lisa Phillips, and Kent and Amy Phillips; seven grandchildren, Logan Phillips, Carter Phillips, Kemp Phillips, Jr., Grace Phillips, Bitty Phillips, Kentlee Phillips, and Karson Phillips; a sister, Judy Atkinson; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Phillips, Arlis Phillips, and Kenneth Phillips.  The funeral service will be held Monday, April 17, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ron Hall officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Youth Foundation, 227 Miller Road, Mount Airy, NC  27030 or www.franklinyouthfoundation.org/donation.
