Mr. Wallace Cornelius McMillan, 74, of 117 Old Lowgap Road South, Mount Airy, passed away Monday night, April 13, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Wallace was born November 11, 1940, in Surry County. He was one of five children born to the late Elbert Chester and Josephine McCraw McMillan. Wallace farmed for many years and later worked as a truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith and attended New Venture Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Craig McMillan of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and David McMillan of Mount Airy; a granddaughter and a grandson, Nicole McMillan and Samson McMillan, both of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, James "Jim" and Alma McMillan of Mount Airy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnne and Gary Bentley of Winston-Salem and Jessie and Larry Parsons of Mountain Park; a sister-in-law, Rosalie McMillan of Bassett, VA; a special cousin and his wife, Ted R. and Sybil Whitaker of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Wallace was preceded in death by a brother, E.C. "Hank" McMillan of Bassett, VA; and his former wife, Leola McMillan of Mount Airy. Wallace enjoyed visiting the New River with his grandchildren and canine companions, Harley and Max, and dreamed of living there one day. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is in charge of the cremation and serving the family. No formal visitation or service will be held.
