Walter Marion Gunter

Mr. Walter Marion Gunter, age 86 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026, at his home. He was born in Patrick County on March 3, 1940, to the late Howard and Ruth Adams Gunter. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gunter was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Bruce Gunter (Thelma). He faithfully served in the United States Army National Guard. He attended Mountain View Church of God of Prophecy, and was retired from DuPont.

Mr. Gunter is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie Plaster Gunter of the home; a son, Daren Gunter (Beth); a daughter, Lori Hutchins (Jay); six grandchildren; a twin brother, Marvin Gunter (June); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Mr. Gunter will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tom Warren officiating. Burial will follow in High Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Patrick County Chapter, P.O.
